TUTU LOVE!

I know I may be quite old enough to wear tutu skirts or dresses but I still do wear them. Lol! But this time it’s not for me, it’s for my god daughter/niece’s first birthday outfit. My cousins knew exactly who to call when it’s a party/event talk and I love it! BTW, the theme is Hello Kitty! Couldn't be happier!

Venue, giveaways, invitation, tarpaulin, party needs and cake are all checked! One last item that I am so excited to make, tutu skirt! It may look hard and complicated but trust me on this one it’s easy. *wink* Tutorial in just a few click!

It was not your typical all pink kitty party, the mom wanted a rainbow motif that’s why we went for it. The skirt is a combination of pink, blue, yellow and green. Quite a festive one huh? And it looked really cute on her! So adorable!

Here’s what I wore on that night: a navy blue striped shirt dress, red doll shoes, my hello kitty head bag and Hello Kitty’s signature big red bow. Just a simple one for easy movement and simple cuteness! *wink*

2013

It was in the last quarter of 2012 when a thought slipped into my mind, at first skeptical, compelled then decided. The year that stylecraftbycherry was born, 2013. I had my blog first at tumblr but I thought that it was not friendly enough for an empty nutcase in information technology like me haha! That’s why I jumped into a blog site that speaks my language. Filled my blog with my simple to clever fourteen DIY’s for the rest of the 2013 and just like that it is 2014 in a few hours.

I wholeheartedly enjoyed having this blog J It became my simple nook of ideas, creativity, passion and freedom. A great escape to my extended idle time since I needed a break to pamper my toiled heart. Not to mention the little admirations I get and inspirations I give to my fellow DIY junkies and fashionistas. Lastly, I guess the highlight of my blogging in 2013 was becoming one of the winners of FOREVER 21 THREEBIES MY WAY contest where I even got a feature on MEG MAGAZINE Dec-Jan issue. (will update my blog for the feature)

My very first year in blogging has been good! I am still in my experimental phase being a neophyte in the blogging path, still in progress but will get there soon! Also thinking if a boost in promotion should be done, monetizing my blog like having sponsors and just by simply going out there to be noticed but for now, I think I’m plainly happy strutting my style and creativity not for attention but for expression.

Sooo excited for the flip of the year! Expect more interesting DIY’s along with my own accent of style. Let us all welcome the NEW YEAR with POSITIVITY, OPTIMISM AND COURAGE!

Good luck to all of us! HAPPY NEW YEAR! Explore. Dream. Discover.

CRAFTY FEET

Okay, we can spell an all capital letters E-A-S-Y for this project! We won’t need much here just two items: your flip flops and your pair of scarves. Aside from that this project is not permanent, you can wrap and unwrap anytime you want not to mention the endless creative possibilities of tying the scarves around your toes. How awesome is that? Tutorial coming up for your curious mind!

The look that I paired with my dressed up flip flops was paralleled to being comfy and laid back. It rear towards a summer-y and a happy Sunday stroll at the park.  I picked this bright yellow ruffled hem dress topped with an off white knitted mesh, a small sling leather bag and queer round glasses for a little character. A very simple harmony of elements, free from much vanity is what I intended here. Just wanted my DIY dressed up slippers to be the conversation piece.

SWEET SCALLOP!

Lately my sweet tooth for fashion slobber for such endearing scalloped outfits. It’s an apparent cut of feminine utterance. I find it so lovely! No thinking twice I got to do it in my project. This is an easy one, no sew required given that your fabric is not grainy or loosely grained. Tutorial coming up! :)

The look that I pulled off here is contrary to the sweet vibe of my scalloped cropped top. I intended to clash the opposite that’s why I play the sporty and feminine look. I lean on wearing this oversized black and white jacket, black skort and knee high socks for the athletic wrap. While sticking to the feminine cropped top and black wedge shoes instead of sneakers for contrast. In styling, it’s fun to pop a surprise and mix the unexpected because it is when character surface and individuality kicks.

FETISH FOR FELINE

My love for kitty never dies! I’ve grown up surrounding myself with the most popular cat, HELLO KITTY!!! (Got so excited there! LOL!) Its name alone shoots up my happy hormones! Because of that I am sooo excited to make this project!

I got this H&M black cap with a ruched front and I thought that it’s the perfect one. I simply need to make cat ears out of felt cloth, tutorial coming up. It was not as complicated as it may seem. Trust me!

I want to veer away from the sweety sweety hello kitty look and pushed this rock chic appeal. I wore my white button down under this really charming sweetheart tulle top that I overly love from my shop. A black skorts for my bottom, black socks to match my black sequined pair of shoes and an arm party. I love how this cat ear cap rocked my whole outfit! It is one item I would always pull out to give a little stylish rawr!

MONOCHROMATIC MADNESS

I have always been drawn to this monochromatic combination, black and white. From Audrey Hepburn’s classic take it to Coco Chanel’s simple yet elegant play on this duo tone I must say I became a huge fan.

It is this years’ huge fashion trend and undeniably taking the fashion world by storm. Black and white in bold stripes, oh my! This makes me so giddy because this trend gives it a more fun and young vibe! And I’d like to give this trend a personal touch by having this very simple project. I’ll be making a plain button down into a black and white piece just by adding a sequined lace. (tutorial coming up!)

Inspired by the black and white madness I created this simple casual look. I was wearing this oversized white chiffon button down spiced up by my keen creativity, under was a white tube, vertically striped shorts and a black inched high wedge.

My project is so easy! It will only take you a few minutes (depending on your sewing prowess) to revamp your plain collared button down. Here, I decided not to put the sequined lace over the collar to make it more discreet and to just give a hint of surprise. So here’s how to do it! Enjoy!
